With international and national shows being cancelled and postponed worldwide due to the coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak, life has changed drastically for most of us over the last weeks. Even more so, for the riders who have been used to showing every weekend – travelling all over the world. World of Showjumping had a talk with German ace Marcus Ehning to find out how he and his team cope with the situation, and what his plan is for the time to come.
“We are training the horses as normal here at home. All horses will be kept in form to be ready when the situation has changed, and we can start competing again. So far, the virus hasn’t reached our village – but we still ask our staff to not take any unnecessary risks,” Ehning explains.
“We can’t really do anything else than keep on going here at home. We ride the horses outside, but we do that the whole winter when the weather allows it as well so there are no changes really.”
“As no one knows how long this will take, we just have to wait and see,” Ehning concludes.
