This time around, Codex One takes center stage in our Close-Up series. With Christian Ahlmann in the saddle, the now 14-year-old Hanoverian stallion by Contendro x Glückspilz has been one of the most-winning horses on the international circuit over the last five years. Codex One initially had success together with Karl Brocks, and moved on to Christian Ahlmann who took the stallion even further. Together the two won the most prestigious Grand Prix in the world back in 2014: The Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen. They also won this year’s Grand Prix of Basel as well as of Neumünster, the 2015 World Cup in Stuttgart, the 2014 LGCT Grand Prix of Valkenswaard, the 2013 LGCT Grand Prix of Hamburg and the 2011 Grand Prix of Frankfurt. Codex One and Christian Ahlmann were also part of the silver medal winning German team at the 2013 Europeans in Herning, and jumped at the 2012 Olympic Games as well as at the 2014 World Equestrian Games. Yep, Codex One is a true winner. All photos © Jenny Abrahamsson.
