Bart Bles (NED) and the 12-year-old stallion Kriskras DV (Cooper vd Heffinck x Kashmir van Schuttershof) won Sunday's CSI4*-W Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, a 1.60m World Cup qualifier.
A total of 40 horse-and-rider combinations had lined up for the Grand Prix, and ten of them made it to the second round – six of them clear, one with two time penalties and three with four faults. Against the clock, only four riders managed to deliver a double clear round and fastest was Bles with a time of 41.23 seconds, more than three seconds quicker than runner-up Abdullah Mohd Al Marri (UAE) on Sama Dubai (Stakkato x Landcapitol. Jörg Naeve (GER) finished third aboard Benur du Romet (Balou du Rouet x Damour), almost five seconds behind the winning time, while Amre Hamcho (SYR) finished fourth with Vagabon des Forets (Corofino 2 x Richebourg). With the fastest time in the second round, but with four faults in the first round, Shane Breen (IRL) and Z7 Ipswich (Carembar de Muze x Quick Star) ended fifth.
