Ireland's Cameron Hanley and Antello Z (Animo II Z x Continue) set an unbeatable time as first to go in the winning round in Saturday's 1.50 class in Stuttgart. The pair was one of eleven to go clear over the big first round track in the Preis der Firma GEZE GmbH, moving on to round two against the clock.
Hanley opened up the winning round, and with a blistering pace from the moment he crossed the start line the Irish rider did not once hesitate around the shortened track getting a perfect turn to the penultimate vertical before he raced down to the last upright to clear that too. The timers showed a time of 34.49 seconds, that would turn out to be impossible to match from the world-class competitors to come.
It was home rider Daniel Deusser that came closest a little over half-way in the winning round, when he used First Class van Eeckelghem's (Balou du Rouet x Feinschnitt I Vd Richter) huge stride to cover ground taking over the runner-up position from Christian Ahlmann with a time of 35.29 seconds. Ahlmann had to settle for third with Cornado II (Cornet Obolensky x Acobat I), after winning the Mercedes German Master on Friday aboard Colorit (Coriano x Capitol I).
The final class of the day was a 1.45 accumulator class that went to Pedro Veniss from Brazil on Anaya Ste Hermelle (Andiamo Z x Paladin des Ifs).
