Patrice Delaveau and Paul Estermann went off with the wins in Saturday's feature classes at the CSI5*-W event in Lyon.
Delaveau gave the crowds something to celebrate when he secured a home win in the 1.50/1.60 Prix Merial. Delaveau was not only clear in both phases of the competition on the feisty Ornella Mail HDC (Lando x Alligator Fontaine), but as usual also very fast stopping the clock on 30.17 seconds. Nobody could match that time, but the other French rider made sure to fill up the top of the result list with Julien Epaillard ending second with a time of 31.45 and Simon Delestre third after crossing the finish line on 32.51 seconds. Julien Gonin took care of fourth, while the only non-French rider in the top five was Rolf-Göran Bengttsson from Sweden ending fifth.
The evening's highlight was the Equita Masters presented by Equidia Life, and the 1.60 class consisting of twenty riders went to Switzerland's Paul Estermann on the talented 9-year-old Lord Pepsi (Lord Pezi x Santander H). Eight riders managed to be clear in the second round of the competition, but it was Estermann that was the fastest at 39.21 seconds. Not too far behind followed home rider Kevin Staut who stopped the timers on 39.44 riding Qurack de Falaise HDC (Jarnac SF x Fetiche du Pas). Belgium's Pieter Devos ended third riding Dream of India Greenfield (Gem Of India x Night And Day).
