Madrid Horse Week ended on Sunday with the 92,000 Euro Estrella Damm Trophy. The 1.50m class with a winning round saw 47 horse-and-rider combinations line up and only the best twelve were to continue to the second round. The time allowed of 74 seconds in the first round proved to be the deciding factor today, with many pairs clearing the jumps, but picking up time faults.
With only six double clears, it was Marcus Ehning (GER) on the 12-year-old Funky Fred (For Pleasure x Pilot) who took home the win after clocking a time of 39,21 seconds in the jump-off. Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) on the 10-year-old Chacanno (Chacco-Blue x Kannan) had to settle for the runner-up position with a time of 39,81 seconds, while Cameron Hanley (IRL) on the 9-year-old Eis Isaura (Tinka's Boy x Darco) took the third spot with a time of 41,35.
Michael Whitaker (GBR) on the 11-year-old mare JB's Hot Stuff (Locarno 62 x Cavalier Royale) rounded of his good weekend in Spain with a fourth place finish with a time of 41,82 seconds. The fifth spot went to Alberto Zorzi (ITA) on the 8-year-old Viceversa de la Rouge (Kannan x Diamant de Semilly), after the pair clocked a time of 43,19 seconds.
