Press release from Jumping Indoor Maastricht
Frank Schuttert won Sunday’s CSI4* 1.55m Longines Trophy Grand Prix of Maastricht. In a competition dominated by the home riders, Schuttert was faster than his compatriots Leopold van Asten and Maikel van der Vleuten that were separated by only 0.03 seconds in the jump-off. "A fantastic win," Schuttert said in front of packed stands in the MECC at Jumping Indoor Maastricht.
The audience was treated with a super exciting competition at Jumping Indoor Maastricht. Ten combinations competed in the jump-off for the coveted Longines watch, which will be on Frank Schuttert's wrist tonight.
Schuttert rode his horse Queensland E (Quickfire de Ferann x Socrate de Chivre) without fault and at full speed over the course set by Louis Konickx. In the end, his time of 35.31 seconds turned out to be 0.17 seconds faster than that of reigning Dutch Champion Leopold van Asten and VDL Groep Miss Untouchable (Chacco-Blue x Aldatus) who until then held the lead. Maikel van der Vleuten finished third with Beauville Z (Bustique x Jumpy Des Fontaines), 0.03 seconds behind Van Asten.
For Schuttert, originally from Ommen, Maastricht is almost like home. He rides for Jos Lansink, who is located just across the border in Meeuwen, Belgium. In recent years, Schuttert has been close to winning in Maastricht a few times. “This is a fantastic victory. It was also high on my list,” Schuttert said. “I am proud of Queensland E. He is a real co-worker. I also want to thank Jos Lansink for letting me ride him. This is a great victory for our entire stable. I'm really happy with it!”
