Penelope Leprevost (FRA) and Texas (Tornesch x Robin Z) won Thursday’s CSI5*-W 1.50m Prize of Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois Basel at the 2023-edition of Longines CHI Classics Basel.

With a time of 56.03 seconds, the French rider took the win in the 1.50m Table A class ahead of Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) – current world number one – and Iliana (Cardento x Gentleman), who had to settle for the runner-up position when the clock stopped on 56.40 seconds. Only the top eight delivered a clear round over the 1.50m course set by Gerard Lachat (SUI) and Gregory Bodo (FRA), with the roll-back at fence number seven and the penultimate vertical-oxer combination at fence number twelve proving particularly problematic.

Romain Duguet (SUI) and Bel Canto de Boguin took the third place with a time of 57.08, while Kevin Jochems (NED) finished fourth on Gijs (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Numero Uno) and Jack Whitaker (GBR) fifth on Spider (Cardento x Luidam).

Earlier in the day, Victor Bettendorf (LUX) and the 13-year-old Astuce de La Roque (Kannan x Quick Star) won the CSI5*-W 1.45m Prize of Bemer. With a time of 55.83 seconds, Bettendorf bested a field of 50 horse-and-rider-combinations, taking the win ahead of Thomas Ryan (IRL) and Karmel van de Watering (Diamant de Semilly x Quick Star) in second and Olivier Perreau (FRA) aboard GL Events Dolce Deceuninck (Toulon x Cartier van de Heffinck) in third. Yuri Mansur (BRA) and Miss Blue Mystic Rose (Chacco-Blue x VDL Zirocco Blue) finished fourth, while Erica Swartz (SWE) followed in fifth aboard Jovita (Carabas vd Wateringhoeve x Jokinal de Bornival).
