Competitions at the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final 2022 have kicked off in Leipzig, Germany, and on Thursday it began with a win for the hosts in the CSI3* classes that run parallel to the final, as Philipp Schulze Topphoff (GER) and Avantus (Arpeggio x Potsdam) topped the CSI3* 1.45m against the clock.
With a time of 54.64 seconds, the German bested a field of 37 horse-and-rider combinations, followed by Tim Rieskamp-Goedeking (GER) and Chico Bonito (Chacco-Blue x Burggraaf NV) that took the runner-up position after stopping the clock at 55.96 seconds. Rene Dittmer (GER) and Burlington Riverland (Mylord Carthago x Dollar du Murier) placed third, while fourth place went to Felix Hassmann (GER) on Balance (Balou du Rouet x Ex Libris) and fifth to Kaya Lüthi (SUI) on Amelia 14 (Clarimo x Claudio).
Marlon Zanotelli (BRA) and Luigi d'Eclipse (Catoki x Calato) won Thursday night's CSI3* 1.45m Preis der Leipziger Messe GmbH. With a time of 31.60 seconds in phase two, the Brazilian rider topped a field of 30 horse-and-rider combinations. Johan-Sebastian Gulliksen (NOR) on Exit of Ice Z (Tornado x unknown) took the runner-up position, while John Whitaker (GBR) on Sharid (Toulon x Vancouleurs) placed third. The fourth spot went to Marvin Jüngel on Jolie Lafee (Nektos x Bavaria Luchs) and the fifth to Ulrich Hensel (GER) on Europa H (Escudo I x Alexis Z).
