The Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ 2023/2024 Western European League continues this week in Helsinki, Finland, and the action got underway with the CSI5*-W 1.45m Pohjola International on Friday afternoon.
Ireland's Shane Breen and Scarteen (Cardento x Chellano Z, bred by Breen Equestrian Ltd.) spoiled the party for the current world number one, Sweden's team Olympic champion and double world champion Henrik von Eckermann and Calizi (Cellestial x Stakkatol, bred by Thomas Lengert) when crossing the finish line in 55.64 and taking the win ahead of the Swede who had to settle for second in 56.24.
Lorenzo de Luca (ITA) and Violino Il Palazetto (Verdi TN x Jasper, bred by Maria Rosaria Il Palazzetto di Marzotto) placed third in 56.58, while Julien Anquetin and Gravity of Greenhill (Nabab de Reve x Conterno-Grande, bred by Philip & Lucien Gysbrechts-Haverhals) finished fourth, followed by Kevin Staut (FRA) aboard Visconti du Telman (Toulon x Dollar du Murier, bred by Marjorie & Francoise Sanguinetti) in fifth.
