This week, the 2023/2024 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Western European League moves on to Mechelen (BEL) for the 9th and last leg of the year before the action resumes in Basel (SUI) in 2024.
On the entry list for Mechelen is current world number one, Sweden's double world champion, Olympic and European team champion Henrik von Eckermann – who took his first ever World Cup win in Mechelen with Gotha FRH in 2012.
France's Julien Epaillard – current world number six – leads the French squad of Kevin Staut and Roger Yves Bost at the traditional Belgian venue in the Nekkerhal, while the hosts come in strong with Gregory Wathelet, Pieter Devos, the Philippaerts-brothers Olivier, Nicola and Thibault, as well as Jos Verlooy and the 2022-title defender Wilm Vermeir among the participants. Other big names include Germany's Daniel Deusser and Christian Ahlmann, Great Britain's Robert Whitaker, as well as Switzerland's Pius Schwizer.
