Thursday’s CSIO5* 1.60m Cashel Palace Hotel Stakes in Dublin – the second chance for riders to secure their ticket to Sunday’s Rolex Grand Prix of Ireland – went to the hosts’ very own Jordan Coyle and the 14-year-old Chaccolino (Chacco-Blue x Heartbreaker).

Besting a field of 43 horse-and-rider combinations, Coyle and Chaccolino delivered the fastest time – 37.19 – in a jump-off of five, where only the top three delivered a clear round.

McLain Ward (USA) and Imperial HBF (Glasgow vh Merelsnest x Orginal VDL) took the runner-up spot in 38.56, followed by Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA) and Major Tom (Vagabond de La Pomme x Heartbreaker) in third in 41.18. Cian O’Connor (IRL) aboard Iron Man (Charisma Z x Mr Blue) finished fourth with eight penalties in 38.90, while Carlos Hank Guerreiro (MEX) on H5 Origi Horta (Kasanova de La Pomme x Vigo d’Arsouilles) took fifth with eight penalties in 39.68.

The second CSIO5* class of the day, the 1.45m Anglesea Speed Stakes, went to Tom Wachman (IRL) and Hawaii (Comme Il Faut 5 x Arpeggio). With a time of 69.51, the Irish duo took the top honours ahead of Bryan Balsiger (SUI) and Fais Toi Belle du Seigneur Pleville (Baltik Sitte x Heartbreaker) in second in 69.65 and Denis Lynch (IRL) aboard Katja (Etoulon x Otangelo) in third in 70.10.
