Marlen Schannwell: We are back!

CSIO5* Barcelona 2015

blog

After  3 weeks forced break, we are back! Bertram broke his collarbone in  Treffen in the first class. But as you say, you are not a rider till you broke your collarbone... We are ready to start all the action again in  Barcelona for the Nations Cup final.

It was very hard to hold  Bertram back from riding so we send him home to Ireland till the doctor  gave his thumb up, then he started to ride 2-3 horses at home last week  and felt ready to get on Molly on Monday and survived it - so here we  are now at the lovely Polo Club in Barcelona.

Here you have tiny stables but lots of space to exercise 3 huge sand rings and a nice big race track to keep the ponys happy.

First  day started straight away with the first round of the Nations Cup where  only 8 of 19 Teams will get into the Final on Saturday night. So  pressure is on as we'd planned to go to the Tappas Bar on Friday night -  then we won't have time to jump in the second finals as they were on  Friday night at 9...

We've been first to go in the team, so had to  start early sqeezing Bertram in his collarbone support vest what is made  of thick neoprene so you could go aswell diving in it. He thinks it's  lovely to wear in the heat of Spain

Molly jumped amazing had a  unlucky step on the tape at the water and one time fault. In the end the  team finished on 13 points with Greg having 5 aswell and Denis and Cian  on 4 what got us finishing on 7th and gets us into Saturday's big final  [miling face with smiling eyes]  and into the Tappas Bar on Friday Night!!

We  brought Belmonde, a lovely very scopey 9 year old as well who jumped a  fantastic round in the opening class and will do the 150 Queens Cup on  Saturday.

So lot of lucky charms needed on Saturday!

Sangria did not work.
