The Portuguese Equestrian Federation and the Vilamoura Equestrian Center have announced that the FEI European Championships for children, juniors and young riders – scheduled for 19-26 July 2020 – have been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
"It is so sad that the FEI European Jumping Championships for Young Riders, Youth and Children at Vilamoura is yet another sporting event to fall victim to the pandemic, especially knowing how much time and effort has already gone into the preparations," FEI Secretary General Sabrina Ibañez said in a statement, "but it is great that the Organisers and the Portuguese National Federation have already been so proactive and have come up with a proposal to potentially reschedule the Championships in 2021 and we will discuss that with the FEI Board next month."
