It was a perfect end to a fantastic career, as Abbervail van het Dingeshof was retired from the sport after his win in the Preis des Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois in Basel this weekend.

The now 16-year-old gelding by Nonostop x Jus de Pommes has had a long and successful career under Irish rider Denis Lynch, winning the 2010 Grand Prix of Wiesbaden, the 2011 Rolex World Cup in Den Bosch, the 2014 Rabobank Championship of Rotterdam, the 2015 Grand Prix of Braunschweig, the 2015 Golden Whip in Nörten-Hardenberg as well as recording numerous other wins and podium finishes.

Abbervail van het Dingeshof also jumped the World Cup Final twice; in 2011 and 2012.
