A few more days and then it's time for the annual VDL stallion show.  In full preparation, we are looking forward to the show that will take place next Saturday, April 6. It promises to be another show full of sport and breeding.

The Grand Prix jumping stallion Hardrock, flown from America, is one of the new stallions that will be presented to the public. The reserve champion from the Oldenburg stallion show, For Treasure (by For Pleasure), and the other recently approved For Pleasure-son For Friendship, are also coming from Germany.

Also new in the collection is the powerful 8-year-old Belgian Diamond de Semilly-son Di Cantero, who will show his jumping capacity under the saddle of Nick Vrins. In addition, Liamant W, from the Explosion W strain, who was recently approved at Zangersheide, is presented at hand.

The stallions Kobalt, Kordon and performance champion Kallmar, who were approved by the KWPN in 2018, will also perform for the first time in the VDL stallion show. The entire collection of proven and young jumping stallions from the VDL Stud is presented. The jumping stallions are presented by international top riders such as James Billington, Lennard de Boer, Doron Kuipers, Marcel de Boer, Nick Vrins and of course the Olympic rider Jur Vrieling. Jumping under the saddle will be explained by international show jumper Holger Hetzel together with Peter van der Waaij.

There is also an interesting program for dressage breeders. Millennium son Milford is ridden by Olympic rider Adelinde Cornelissen. Stal Laarakkers is present with the Small Tour stallion Ebony and the impressive Cum Laude. The Bordeaux son Barton, who was approved at Oldenburg, is shown and from Germany comes over our own bred Zenon, who will be ridden by Julia Watzek. Of course Hennessy will also be present and he will be ridden by Remy Bastings.

In addition to the presentation of the stallions, offspring of various stallions are also shown.

The Show starts at 2 p.m. Before the show, the homage of breeders will start at 13:15.

The Show has free entrance. Coffee, tea and drinks are available free of charge, but during the show visitors can contribute for a good cause - like every year. This year we are collecting for Alpe d'HuZes. One of our breeders, Marco Stienstra, goes up the Alpe d'Huez while cycling. The collected money is used for the fight against cancer. We greatly appreciate your contribution.

Another important announcement for the visiting public: The A32 motorway between the Heerenveen junction and the Wirdum connection (16) in the direction of Leeuwarden is closed to traffic. Bear in mind a road diversion and extra travel time, more information can be found on our website:

The following stallions are presented to the public in a concatenation of approximately 3 hours:
