To quote Irish author Oscar Wilde: “The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it". This also accounts for the 26 Holsteiner foals to be sold at auction at Elmhorn on Wednesday, 13 June.

And we are not talking about just any, but very special foals, each youngster being in a class of their own in terms of bloodline, type, movement and internationally proven and successful relatives. Six of them are by the Holsteiner studbook’s currently most iconic stallion, Casall by Caretino. For example a filly foal by Casall out of a Cassini I-Levisto-Lord dam. He second dam is no other than Lady Levisto, successfully shown at international S level jumping competitions by Inga Czwalina. Her third dam’s offspring includes no less than five S level horses. The Casall filly out of a Quo Vados I-Corofino I-Lord dam sparks a lot of interest as well, not only due to her thrilling type and movement, but also because of her famous second dam, which is also the dam of Carlow van de Helle (Constant van Paesschen).

Three Catch foals on offer at the Holsteiner foal auction during the Elmshorn Horse Days provide a special treat for fanciers of the Carthago blood. Catch by Colman, once part of the Holsteiner foal auction himself, has embarked on a picture book career since: second reserve champion of the stallion grading, two-time winner of the stallion sport test and winner of young horse jumping classes, like for example last year at the Holsteiner Horse Days. As the grey stallion has proved very popular with the breeders, there have been quite a lot of interesting foals. For example the young colt from mare family 162, his second dam a full sister to licensed stallion and Olympic and World Championship contender Canturo (Bernardo Alves).

Anybody looking for “international blood” may look forward to foals by Comme il faut, Van Gogh, Clarimo, Kannan and Livello. By the way, both Livello foals come from highly successful Holsteiner breeders. One the one hand a filly foal out of a Carthago-Contender-Lord dam. This mare is a full sister to internationally successful jumper C-Jay (Johannes Ehning) and her dam’s produce includes the licensed stallion Crawford by Corrado I. This famous mare family (stem 318D2) has also produced the stallions Coriano I+II, Diarado, and Corofino I+II. The second Livello foal is no less interesting considering the produce of his third dam (a mare by Caletto II) which includes several iconic sport horses and studs like Dobel’s Cento, Casado, and Zento.

Anticipation is running high for these foals same as for the offspring of Central Park, Dinken, Diarado, Million Dollar, Uriko and Zinedream. Holsteiner dressage horse enthusiasts are also being catered for with young Quaterback and For Romance daughters to go under the hammer of auctioneer Dr. Günther Friemel.
