Studfarm Zangersheide has announced the addition of two of the sport's most sought-after stallions to their catalogue; Balou du Reventon Z and Tobago Z.

"For years it seemed impossible, but now, finally, Balou du Reventon Z is available again to European breeders," the stud wrote in a press release. "Studfarm Zangersheide is exceptionally proud to welcome this superstar to Lanaken, and his arrival marks a monumental moment for the breeders, as access to one of the most coveted and sought-after stallions in modern showjumping will be available again for the first time in years - and that with fresh semen."

The now 19-year-old Balou du Reventon Z (Cornet Obolensky x Continue) bowed out of the sport last year, after a long and successful career with several different riders. In 2019, with Darragh Kenny in the saddle, Balou du Reventon Z won the CSI5* 1.60m Rolex Grand Prix of Knokke, the CSI5* 1.60m Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Chantilly, the CSIO5* 1.60m Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup Final with the Irish team, and represented Ireland at the Longines FEI Jumping European Championship in Rotterdam. Brian Moggre then took over the reins, and in 2021 the duo won the CSIO5* 1.60m Grand Prix of Sopot, and jumped a double clear round to help USA to the victory in the CSIO5* 1.60m Mercedes-Benz Nations Cup in Aachen, where they also finished second in the CSIO5* 1.60m Rolex Grand Prix. With Moggre, Balou du Reventon also represented USA at the 2022 FEI World Championships in Herning, before Harry Charles took over the ride. With Charles, the stallion finished 9th in the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Final in Omaha in 2023.

Following his retirement ceremony at the 2025 Brussels Stephex Masters, Daniel Deusser's former top horse Tobago Z (Otangelo x Mr Blue, bred by Jonas Bellemans) now begins a new chapter at Studfarm Zangersheide. "Already established in breeding, Tobago Z has sired several approved stallions, while his first generations are making their presence felt at the highest levels of the sport. Among them are 1.60m performers Otello de Guldenboom, successfully campaigned by Daniel Deusser, and Trixie Z with Emilie Conter, alongside Toscane Z and Orak d'Hamwyck, both performing up to 1.55m level, underlining Tobago Z's growing influence in modern top sport breeding," Zangersheide proudly announced.

With Deusser, the now 17-year-old stallion won team silver at the 2019 Longines FEI European Championship in Rotterdam. In 2017, the pair won the CSI5*-W 1.60m Grand Prix in Oslo, while in 2018, they took the victory in the CSI5*-W 1.60m Grand Prix in Lyon and the CSI5*-W 1.60m Longines FEI Jumping World Cup in Madrid. The year after, in 2019, the duo topped the CSI5*-W 1.60m Longines FEI Jumping World Cup in Bordeaux. In 2020, the pair won the CSI4*-W 1.60m FEI Jumping World Cup in Riyadh, and in 2021, they took the top honours in the CSI5* 1.60m Rolex Grand Prix at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, as well as in the CSIO4* 1.60m Grand Prix presented by JTWG, Inc. at the same venue.

Two of the biggest victories of Tobago’s career came in 2022; at The Dutch Master where he won the CSI5* 1.60m Rolex Grand Prix – one of the four Majors in the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping – and at the GC Prague Playoffs where he topped the CSI5* 1.65m Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix, after having won the CSI5* 1.60m Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of New York just two months prior. Other notable wins during Tobago’s career came in last year’s CSI5*-W Open Sires of the World in Mechelen, as well as in Brussels, Fontainebleau, Rome, Gothenburg, and Shanghai – to mention just a few.

Scuderia 1918 Tobago Z also topped the FEI WBFSH Breeders Ranking several times during his career.
