Reigning Olympic champion Ben Maher has decided to compete the 11-year-old mare Dallas Vegas Batilly (Cap Kennedy x L’Arc de Triomphe, breeder Jean-Claude Viollet) instead of the 10-year-old stallion Point Break (Action-Breaker x Baloubet du Rouet, bred by Nya Äppelvikens Ridskola) at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, where the first horse inspection for the jumpers starts Wednesday morning (31 July) at 7.30 AM.
British Equestrian and British Showjumping announced Maher’s swap of horse earlier today, stating the “(…) change from Point Break is down to form post-travel.”
With Dallas Vegas Batilly, Maher – who won the individual gold in Tokyo with Explosion W (Chacco-Blue x Baloubet du Rouet, bred by Willy Wijnen) – recently showed great form at CHIO Aachen, jumping double clear in the CSIO5* Nations Cup where Great Britain placed 3rd, as well as finishing 5th in the Grand Prix.
After the first horse inspection on Wednesday, the jumping gets underway on 1 August with the team qualifier.
