The 141st IOC Session meeting in Mumbai, India, have elected eight new IOC members; four women and four men – bringing the proportion of women on the IOC membership to 41.1 per cent, the IOC announced on Tuesday.
Among the new members is Michael Mronz, the General Manager of CHIO Aachen. "The IOC's vision of creating a better world through sport has been a conviction and guiding principle throughout my personal and professional journey for decades," the 56-year-old German commented on CHIO Aachen's Facebook page.
Alongside IOC President Thomas Bach and Olympic fencing champion Britta Heidemann, Mronz is now the third German IOC member. With a mission of promoting Olympism throughout the world and leading the Olympic Movement, IOC has a total of 107 members. FEI President Ingmar De Vos was elected as a IOC member in 2017.
