Don VHP Z has been crowned Horse of the Year 2017 in Belgium, receiving his award at Jumping Mechelen with his rider Harrie Smolders, his groom Alex Tyler-Morris and Euro Horse's Axel and Nena Verlooy present. 

Don VHP Z has had an outstanding year, taking the individual silver at the European Championships in Gothenburg, finishing second in the five-star LGCT Grand Prix of Hamburg, third in the LGCT Grand Prix of Paris, fourth in the Rolex Grand Prix of Geneva, jumping double clear in the Nations Cup in Rotterdam and Hickstead as well as being clear in both rounds of the Nations Cup Final in Barcelona that the Dutch team won. 

It was the readers of the Belgian Landbouwleven that voted the 13-year-old Zangersheide stallion by Diamant de Semilly x Voltaire to Horse of the Year.
