Sadly, Gudrun Patteet’s Sea Coast Pebbles Z (born Pebbles vd Wijngaardh Z, Picasso Z x Flamenco de Semilly, bred by Yves Clercx and owned by Sea Coast Horses BVBA) has passed away at the age of 19.
Sea Coast Pebbles Z had a long and successful career with Belgium’s Patteet in the saddle, before retiring in 2022. In 2017, the pair won the CSI5* Grand Prix in Knokke, and the year after they topped the CSI5*-W World Cup in Helsinki, the CSI5* Grand Prix in A Coruña as well as the CSI3* Grand Prix in Lanaken. That same year, in 2018, Sea Coast Pebbles Z was crowned Horse of the Year in Belgium. In 2019, the pair took yet another big win when topping the CSI5* Grand Prix in Lausanne.
“With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to a truly special friend,” Patteet wrote on social media. “Words cannot express the depth of our gratitude for everything this incredible horse has given us. Thank you, Sea Coast Pebbles Z, for the unforgettable moments and your unwavering spirit. Rest in peace, dear friend.”
At World of Showjumping, our thoughts go out to Gudrun Patteet and all those close to Pebbles.
