The legendary breeding stallion Indoctro (Capitol I x Caletto II) has passed away at the age of 35, VDL Stud announced on Sunday. Indoctro was born in 1990, and came to be known as one of the world's best sires – No Limit, Nassau, Montreal, Maserati, Orame, Sheraton and Wittinger were among his licensed sons. Indoctro had multiple offspring that were successful at the highest level in the sport, including Hello M'Lady (Scott Brash), Cas 2 (Cameron Hanley), Imothep (Darragh Kenny), Vedor (Julia Hargreaves Lynch), VDL Groep Arera C (Maikel van der Vleuten), Baileys (Michel Hendrix), Valentino Velvet (Simon Delestre) and Vivaldi K (Andreas Schou) – to mention just a few.

VDL Stud announced the sad news on Sunday, writing on social media: "A Final Bow to a Legend. This morning, after 35 remarkable years with us at VDL Stud, we had to say our final goodbye to our Preferent stallion, Indoctro. A stallion whose impact on the equestrian world is beyond measure, his legacy will continue to inspire for generations to come. Yesterday, he was still enjoying all the attention at our annual Stallionshow. Thank you, Indoctro, for everything you’ve given us — your strength, your heart, and your undeniable presence will never be forgotten. You will always have a special place in the history of VDL Stud and in our hearts."

At World of Showjumping, our thoughts are with all those close to Indoctro!
