For a second consecutive year, Harrie Smolders has been announced as Rider of the Year in Netherlands. It is the second time Smolders is awarded this prestigious title.
After a fantastic 2017, Smolders dominated the Longines Ranking as world no. one from May-December in 2018. With Emerald, Smolders won last year's CSI5* Grand Prix of Bordeaux while on Don VHP Z he went to the top in the CSI5* LGCT Grand Prix of Hamburg. During the year the Dutch rider also recorded major victories in Basel, Shanghai, New York, Rome and London as well as jumping double clear in the Nations Cups in La Baule and Rotterdam.
Smolders will receive the award at the Dutch Masters in Den Bosch in March.
