At the age of 17, Janika Sprunger's Uptown Boy (Odermus R x Joost) will be retired from the sport.

With Sprunger in the saddle, Uptown Boy jumped to several Grand Prix podiums at venues such as London, Porto, Arezzo and Offenburg as well as picking up numerous five-star placings around the world.

"My best Uptown Boy. Exactely ten years ago he entered my stable as a wild naughty seven-year-old youngster, and with that a long beautiful journey began. First ever WC, Nations Cup, Globals – all this he taught me and jumped with me during 8 years on 5* level all around the world. With his unique character, friendly face and his bucks in the warm up - everybody knew and loved him. I'm glad to tell that he is still in great shape but with my team and his owner we decided "enough is enough“. Ten years together and at the age of 17 we wish our best "Joey“ a happy retirement and we say THANK YOU!!!!!! As well thanks to everybody that crossed his way and cared about and loved him by heart," Sprunger states on her Instagram account.
