The talented Dutch rider Jelmer Hoekstra leaves Stal Thijssen – the stables of Leon Thijssen in Sevenum, Netherlands. Hoekstra will be looking for a new adventure in the time to come. “I am very grateful for everything Leon and the others of team Stal Thijssen have done for me over the last couple of years,” Jelmer Hoekstra states as he closes a chapter that counts the three last years of his career.
During his time there, Hoekstra has been very successful at international level with Stal Thijssen’ horses. Last summer, he won the Grand Prix of Wierden riding Quinoa des Riollets, while he finished in runner-up position with that same mare in the Glock Grand Prix of Tubbergen. Riding Arakorn, he won the 1.45m in Tubbergen and he also finished second in the Grand Prix competitions of Opglabbeek and Wilków.
Jelmer is now looking forward for a new chapter of his career. “I would very much like to make the next step in my international career. In the period ahead, I will be trying to find out how to make this new step. I am open for new adventures, maybe even abroad,” Hoekstra states. “Hereby, I would like to thank Leon and Dorien Thijssen for all the wonderful opportunities they have given me over the last couple of years.”
