Henrik von Eckermann's double World Champion King Edward (Edward 28 x Feo), a 12-year-old BWP gelding bred by Wim Impens, tops the final WBFSH Breeders Ranking of 2022, which includes results for the period from 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022. King Edward sits on top of the list with a total of 2359 points.
Ben Maher's Faltic HB (Baltic VDL x Concorde), a 12-year-old KWPN stallion bred by H.A. Brinkman and M. Huisman, is 2022's second highest ranked horse with 2017 points, while Conor Swail's Count Me In (Count Grannus x Sherlock Holmes), a 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding bred by Friedrich Luessmann, is no. three with 1810 points. Rank four is Maikel van der Vleuten's Beauville Z (Bustique x Jumpy des Fontaines), a 12-year-old Zangersheide gelding bred by Pascal Habets. Harrie Smolder's Monaco (Cassini II x Contender), a 13-year-old Holsteiner gelding bred by Ralf Leutja, finishes fifth on the final 2022-ranking.
The breeder rankings are published monthly from the April extraction cycle onwards. At the end of the cycle, the breeder of the horse with the most points in each discipline is crowned WBFSH Breeder of the Year for each respective discipline. The top breeders are celebrated during the Longines WBFSH Breeder Awards.
For the studbooks, BWP finishes 2022 on top with 9159 points, with King Edward, Like A Diamond van het Schaek (Diamant de Semilly x Bamako de Muze) and H&M Indiana (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Animo's Hallo) being their best three horses. Stud Book du Cheval Selle Français follows as rank two on 8607 points, with Vital Chance de La Roque (Diamant De Semilly x Rivage Du Poncel), Caracole de La Roque (Zandor Z x Kannan) and Equine America Unick du Francport (Zandor x Helios de la Cour) as their three best ambassadors. KWPN ends 2022 as rank three, on a total of 7862 points – with Faltic HB, Orafina (For Fashion x Canturo) and Glamour Girl (VDL Zirocco Blue x Caletto I) being their top three horses.
