In a joint press release, Kingsland Oslo Horse Show and the Norwegian Equestrian Federation have announced that the 2020-edition of the event is cancelled. After Madrid and Helsinki, Oslo is now the third Longines FEI World Cup host of the 2020/2021-season in the Western European League to cancel their event due to difficulties caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic.

The press release from Kingsland Oslo Horse Show reads as follows:

"It is with great sadness that we have made the difficult decision to cancel CSIW5* Kingsland Oslo Horse Show, scheduled from 16-18 October 2020.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a serious impact globally, and has hit the sports calendar and its events hard. Necessary measures of social distancing and travel restrictions have been imposed with the overarching aim to contain the virus and secure health and safety, and of course we support and remain loyal to these measures and recommendations.

Kingsland Oslo Horse Show depends on a balance between commercial partners, private partnerships, trade stands, volunteers and our huge group of loyal spectators in order to be financial sustainable. With the additional uncertainties of the development of the COVID-19 virus, 2020 will unfortunately be the year when we – despite all our best efforts – have had to cancel our event, meaning that we are unable to host the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ qualifier in Oslo.

“We understand how difficult the decision to cancel has been on the Oslo organising team, knowing just how much hard work goes into producing an event of this size every year, and of course we share their disappointment”, FEI Secretary General Sabrina Ibáñez said. “We really appreciate the loyalty and support of both the Oslo team and the Norwegian Equestrian Federation over the years and look forward to being back together with them in Oslo in 2021.”

We would like to thank the FEI for its constructive input and the flexible approach demonstrated in the last few months. We would also like to underline our appreciation to Longines for their support over the years. We chose to have a positive outlook on the future and focus on exploring new opportunities as the world gains control over the COVID-19 virus. And we look forward to welcome horses, riders and spectators to CSIW5* Kingsland Oslo Horse Show in 2021."
