Longines CSI Basel has today announced that the 2021-edition of the five-star event has been cancelled. This means that the Longines FEI World Cup Western European League currently is down to only three qualifiers – Mechelen, Leipzig and Bordeaux – ahead of the final in Gothenburg in April 2021.
“It is with great regret that we are forced to cancel the LONGINES CSI BASEL from January 7th - 10th, 2021 due to the current COVID situation. The last few days have shown a very poor development of the situation, especially in the Basel region, where major events with over 1,000 spectators were banned by the end of the year. This makes serious preparation of the event impossible. This not only applies to us, but also to the riders," reads a statement from the organisers.
Longines CSI Basel will be back from January 13-16, 2022.
