Martin Fuchs has announced that Clooney 51 (Cornet Obolensky x Ferragamo) is showing slight progress after he sustained a career-ending shoulder injury when he slipped and fell in the field a little over a week ago.

Since his fall, the 15-year-old gelding has spent time at a clinic in Zürich and last night Fuchs updated fans and friends when writing on his Instagram account: "Clooney has a Humerus fracture on his right side. He is in the best care at Tierspital Zürich and seems to be his normal self at the moment. He is eating well and is able to put weight on his right leg. The sling helps to stabilize him. Thank you all for your supportive messages and comments, and a special thanks to @sean_vard [Editor's note: Clooney's groom Sean Vard] and @luigi.baleri [Editor's note: Clooney's owner Luigi Baleri] for visiting him every day since this unfortunate accident last week."

Together, Clooney 51 and Fuchs have had a tremendous career. The two are reigning European Champions from Rotterdam in 2019, they took the Vice Champion title at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon in 2018 and have also recorded numerous five-star Grand Prix and World Cup victories throughout their time together. Clooney had just returned home after competing at the Olympic Games in Tokyo when the accident sadly put an end to his sports career.

Fuchs has stated that he hopes to make it possible for Clooney to eventually spend his retirement in the field.
