After lots of success together, Maurice Tebbel and the 12-year-old stallion Don Diarado (Diarado x Lord Lancer) have parted ways, the German rider announced in social media today. The pair was on the German team that took the bronze medal at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon in 2018, and also represented Germany at the Olympic Games in Tokyo this summer. 

On his official Instagram account Tebbel wrote: 

“Thank you Doni for everything!

After 10 years together, Don Diarado left our stable today. The new rider of the Müter-family, the owners, will now take over Doni. For us it was an unexpected and very difficult farewell.

Since we discovered him at the licensing when he was 2-years-old, we have made our way together from the first A showjumping classes to the Olympic Games. At the age of 9, we won the GCL leg in Hamburg and the team bronze medal at the World Championships in Tryon. Over the last year, he continued to develop enormously and constantly jumped fantastic rounds. In 24 of 29 rounds this season, he was without jumping faults. Victory in the GP in Hagen, Opglabbeek and in the Nations Cup in Sopot, 2nd place in the 4* GP in Mannheim & the Nations Cup in St. Gallen, 3rd place in the 5* GP of the GCT in Samorin, best German team result at the Olympic Games and many other top 10 placings at 5* level was among what we achieved this year.

The goal for the coming season was the World Championships in Herning, but this and many other dreams are now a thing of the past.

It's always hard to lose your best horse, but Don Diarado is much more to us than that - an absolute world-class horse and a family member. Take care Doni, we will miss you very much.”
