The USA’s six-time Olympian McLain Ward – who won the 2017 FEI Jumping World Cup™ title on home soil in Omaha with HH Azur – has sustained a back injury and will be sidelined for the coming month, missing what would have been his 21st World Cup™ Final.
Ward was meant to compete at next week’s FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in Fort Worth, USA, with the 12-year-old gelding Jordan Molga M, but has now been forced to withdraw to make sure his injuries heal properly. Prior to his back issue, Ward had a problem with his hand, which has kept him out of international arenas for the past three weeks.
“Along with my hand, I also injured my back, which is keeping me sidelined for about a month,” Ward commented to World of Showjumping. “Unfortunately, it comes at an inopportune time.”
