Nicola Philippaerts is out of action with a shoulder injury after a fall from a young horse during a training session on Wednesday afternoon. The 26-year-old had to undergo surgery, and after a rest period of six weeks Philippaerts can begin rehabilitation.

“It went very quickly, and it is hard to describe how it happened," Nicola Philippaerts said in a press release. “I immediately felt it was not right and I was in a lot of pain. After the necessary examinations in the hospital, it was decided not to waste time and to operate immediately. The operation went well, but I still have a lot of pain. I spoke to the doctor this morning. He told me that I have to rest for six weeks, after which I can start rehab. That's a blow, but it could have been worse. I want to thank the doctor and his team for all the good care. It now comes down to taking the necessary rest and then working towards the indoor season again."

At World of Showjumping we wish Nicola a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in the saddle soon.
