Chloe Reid has asked World of Showjumping to publish her official statement following the unexpected loss of her wonderful partner Codarco:

"Thank you to everyone for the kind wishes and messages. I feel truly blessed to have so many people who love me and I am humbled by all those who recognize the amazing animal that Cody was.

The necropsy revealed that Cody had cancer in his abdomen. He started showing mild pain on Thursday afternoon so I find relief in knowing his suffering was short. There was nothing anyone could have done to foresee or help him.

From the bottom of my heart I would like to thank Dr. Peter Heidman and the entire staff at Palm Beach Equine Clinic who worked day and night to give Cody the best chance at survival and to make sure he was comfortable in his final days.

I would also like to thank my vet Jack Snyder. There are no words to express my gratitude for all that you do and for bringing together the best group of experts for input and for consulting me through every step of the painful process.

Thank you to my trainer Markus Beerbaum for finding me and helping me produce the amazing athlete that Cody was. The experiences I had with Cody in the ring will be memories that I will never forget.

And finally I’d like to thank my groom Sigrun Land. If any of you have come into contact with Sigrun and Cody over the past few years then you know she would have fought you to the ground in protecting that horse. Cody was as much my love as he was Sigrun’s and Markus’s and I owe them everything for helping Cody and I achieve the success that we did.

While I can’t imagine a barn without him I know he’s looking over all of us.

God speed Codarco.

Chloe Reid"
