This weekend, the 11-year-old mare Okapi van het Schaek (Balou du Rouet x Calido I, bred by Perry De Winter) has made her five-star debut with USA’s Karl Cook at the Highlands Cup in Amenia, USA. “We are excited,” Cook tells World of Showjumping about Okapi van het Schaek joining his string of horses. “She is a very nice mare that should bring some great support for Caracole and Foxy.”
With Belgium’s Sacha Beghuin in the saddle, Okapi van het Schaek has jumped up to three-star 1.45m level. Before Beghuin took over the reins at the beginning of this year, Koenraad Bauters (BEL), Nina Fagerström (FIN) and Karlien Fannes (BEL) competed the mare.
