For a second consecutive year, current world no. one Steve Guerdat was awarded as 'Rider of the Year 2018' in Switzerland. The award ceremenoy took place during the CSI5*-W event in Basel on Saturday afternoon.
Guerdat had an incredible 2018-season taking the individual bronze at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, winning the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final in Geneva, as well as consistently being on the podium in five-star Grand Prix classes and World Cups in addition to producing several clear rounds in Nations Cups for the Swiss team. His consistency throughout the season made him the new world no. one in January this year.
Hofgut Albführen GmbH, the owners of Guerdat's 13-year-old mare Albführen's Bianca (Baloubet du Rouet x Cardento), received the 'Owner of the Year' award.
Luigi Baleri 13-year-old gelding Clooney 51 (Cornet Obolensky x Ferragamo), ridden by Martin Fuchs, was named the 'Horse of the Year 2018' after a fantastic season that included individual silver at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon.
