Home riders dominated Friday’s biggest class in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain, with Eduardo Alvarez Aznar (ESP) taking the pole position. Together with Legend (Ogano Sitte x Nabab de Reve), Alvarez Aznar crossed the finish line in 60.63 seconds – 1.75 seconds faster than his compatriot Kevin Gonzalez de Zarate with Conthargos Rouge (Conthargos x Papillon Rouge) that took the runner-up position.
In-form Ismael Garcia Roque (ESP) needed just over a second more to cross the finish line riding Airline R (Avec Coeur x Cornet Obolensky) to take third place. Fourth place went to Alberto Marquez Galobardes (ESP) with Aldo du Manoir (Iowa 960 x Arpege Pierreville*HN) while Henk van de Pol (NED) with Looyman Z (Numero Uno x Wellington) – the first rider to break the Spanish domination – ended fifth.
Friday’s main class at the CSI2* Baltica Tour in Ciecocinko, Poland, was a 1.45m counting for the Longines Ranking and a qualifier for the Grand Prix. Wojciech Wojcianiec (POL) on Chintablue (Chintan x Chacco Blue) took home the win with a time of 65.06 seconds, while Lieven Devos (BEL) on Inca’s Big Think (Beaulieus Think Big x Lanciano) placed second with a time of 66.11. Michael Hughes (USA) on Great-Tikila J (Carosso VDL x Nabab de Reve) took the third spot after the clocks stopped on 67.98. Toni Hassmann (GER) on Daring Queen (breeding unknown) placed fourth, while the fifth spot went to Michal Kazmierczak (POL) on Dame De Pique (Casall x Crawford 5).
