Alvaro Gonzalez De Zarate and Casa Diva PS best in Saturday's CSI4* 1.50m Volvo Trophy in Gijón

Alvaro Gonzalez De Zarate (ESP) and the 9-year-old Casa Diva PS (Casallco x Silvio I) took a home win Saturday's CSI4* 1.50m Volvo Trophy – a class counting for the Longines Ranking group B – in Gijón, Spain. 

Stopping the clock on 43.54 on the winning round, the Spanish duo took the win ahead of Harry Allen (IRL) and Lukaku vd Biscchop (Plot Blue x Utrillo Z) in second in 44.02, while Pello Elorduy Ibarzabal (ESP) and Champenoise de Rampan (Voltigeur de Rampan x Quintal) placed third, followed by Laura Renwick (GBR) and Kosmos A (Arezzo VDL x Namelus R) in fourth and Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida (POR) aboard d'Amerique van de Vlasrede Z (Diamant de Semilly x Cormint) in fifth. 

On Friday, Saudi Arabia's Abdullah Alsharbatly and the 15-year-old stallion Ermindo W (Singapore x Carinjo) won the CSI4* 1,55m Trofeo Fundación Caja Rural De Gijón, counting for the Longines Ranking Group B.

In a field of 38-horse-and rider combinations, ten moved on to the jump-off where Alsharbatly was the fastest when clocking a time of 49.53 seconds. Billy Twomey (IRL) and the 16-year-old stallion Chat Botte E.D (Casall x Darco) followed in second with a time of 50,74, while Pedro Veniss (BRA) rounded off the podium riding Nimrod de Muze Imperio Egipcio (Nabab de Reve x Tinka's Boy) to 51.79 seconds. Two British riders followed in fourth and fifth; Robert Whitaker on Vermento (Argento x Skippy II), and William Fletcher on Iwalinde (VDL Zirocco Blue x Corland) with their respective times of 52.21 and 52.53.
