The now 17-year-old gelding Tobalio (Numero Uno x Jacorde) has been retired from the sport.
Abdullah Al Sharbatly bought Tobalio in 2014 from the Eurocommerce-auction, and the two of them went on to a lot of success including winning the 2016 LGCT Grand Prix in Shanghai as well as being second in the 2016 LGCT Grand Prix in Madrid.
Before being sold at the Eurocommerce-auction, Tobalio was competed successfully by Dutch rider Albert Voorn who also had big international wins on the gelding.
In a press release from Al Sharbatly, the Saudi rider comments on the retirment: “Tobalio is a true fighter whenever he sees the fences he go there and amazes everyone. It was really hard to put an end for my great Tobalio, at this stage we decided that it's time to rest although he is still capable of winning more and more. I always believed in him and he always approves my point and the last year was totally glorious for us, I truly love this horse”.
