The 2025 Summer Classic at Longines Tops International Arena in Valkenswaard, the Netherlands, culminated on Sunday with the CSI4* 1.55m Grand Prix that came down to a mere 0.05 seconds.
Mexico’s Andres Azcarraga ultimately claimed victory aboard the experienced Contendros 2 (Contendro I x Drosselklang), stopping the clock in 35.62 seconds to take home the lions share of the €105,500 in prize money. Dutch favourite Harrie Smolders, who had already taken wins on both previous days of the Summer Classic, was aiming for a perfect hat-trick and came heartbreakingly close - just 0.05 seconds slower with Mr. Tac (Non Stop x Toulon) in 35.67 seconds to take the runner-up spot, while Denis Lynch (IRL) and Cordial (Casall x Chicago Z) rounded off the podium in third.
