Eiken Sato (JPN) took his second Big Tour win of the week at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain, when going to the top in Saturday's CSI4* 1.45m Sergio Grasso Small Grand Prix.
No less than eighteen of the 82 horse-and-rider combinations at start cleared their way to the jump-off in this class counting for the Longines Ranking Group D, where nine repeated their clears. Fastest was Sato, who aboard the 11-year-old mare Daloa du Banco (Mozart des Hayettes x Dollar de la Pierre) clocked the winning time of 40.24 seconds.
Not far behind, in 40.78, followed Holly Smith (GBR) and the 14-year-old stallion Fruselli (Zambesi TN x Karandasj). The third place went to Therese Søhol Henriksen (NOR) and Iron Maiden (Quasimodo van de Molendreef x Indorado), who crossed the finish line in 41.37 seconds. Alberto Marquez Galobardes (ESP) and Aldo du Manoir (Iowa x Arpege Pierreville) finished fourth, followed by Jessica Burke (IRL) and African Affair (Billy Congo x breeding unknown) in fifth.
