A rider from Westphalia, a horse from Holstein: This combination was unbeatable in Saturday's Prize of the Warsteiner Brewery at the Baltic Horse Show in Kiel. Thanks to a faultless jump-off round in 30.19 seconds, Felix Hassmann and Cayenne WZ took valuable world ranking points and prize money of 6150 euros for their first place in this 1.50m competition and the German rider came to the conclusion that "things always run well for me in Kiel". The 30-year old showjumper was often at the Baltic Horse Show, and he rarely went home without a win or a placement. Furthermore, his Cayenne WZ (Claudio x Ramirado) provided him with a very successful season so far, including the victory in the ‘Golden Whip’ in Nörten-Hardenberg.
Runner-up was Hassmann’s compatriot Jan Wernke on his top horse Queen Mary 10 (Contendro I x Caretino). "I wanted the winning round to be a bit different than I rode it actually, but could not quite execute it," said Wernke, "and when Felix still comes after you, then it is anyway difficult ...".
Third place went to Swiss rider Werner Muff with HH Fleur (Darco x Bon Ami), both of which were in Kiel last year as well.
A few hours later, there was more German success in the 1.45m MVK Championat of the City of Kiel as David Will won with the veteran Mic Mac du Tillard (Cruising x Galoubet A).
