Henk van de Pol (NED) and Looyman Z (Numero Uno x Wellington) won Sunday’s CSI3* 1.50m Grand Prix at the Autumn Tour in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain.
The Grand Prix track set in the David Broome arena was designed by Gregory Bodo, and 43 riders had lined up for the challenge. Eleven of them went through to the jump-off after producing clear rounds, with many of the other riders getting in trouble with the difficult distances included in the course.
In the end, Henk van de Pol rode two super rounds and literally flew around the jump-off course – winning by just under two seconds in 38.8sec. The Dutch veteran was followed by Luis Sabino Gonçalves (POR) riding Argan de Beliard (Mylord Carthago*HN x Ahorn) to a time of 40.62sec. American legend Laura Kraut was also double clear with Goldwin (Emerald x Understone van de Kapel), finishing in third with a time of 41.87sec. In fourth and just off the podium was Vanessa Mannix (CAN) on Grand Cru vd Vijf Eiken (Contact vd Heffinck x Heartbreaker), followed by Sameh El Dahan (EGY) on Suma's Zorro (Douglas x Horos XX) in fifth with four faults in the jump-off.
