52 horse-and-rider combinations lined up for Friday evening’s CSI4* 1.50m class presented by Celside at Hubside Jumping in St. Tropez, and best of them all was Julien Anquetin (FRA) and the 11-year-old gelding Blood Diamond du Pont (Diamant de Semilly x Arpege Pierreville).

Anquetin was more than three second faster than his compatriot Simon Delestre (FRA) with I Amelusina R 51 (Dexter R x Chin Chin), in a jump-off that consisted of 11 riders. Third place went to Zoe Conter (BEL) with La Una (Chacco-Blue x For Pleasure), ahead of Victor Bettendorf (LUX) with Mr. Tac (Non Stop x Toulon) in fourth and David Will (GER) with My Prins van Dorperheide (Zilverstar T x Winningmood) in fifth.

“I have been riding Blood Diamond since he was eight years old and he is just getting better. He is improving from competition to competition and it is very encouraging for the future," Anquetin said. "Today, I didn’t worry at all about the other pairs in the jump-off. I know that my horse is naturally very fast. I went quietly to number one, but then I tightened each turn as much as possible and on the last line I made one stride less than the others. It was there I saved most time I think.”
