Julien Anquetin (FRA) and Fulldollar de Raygade (El Torreo de Muze x Dollar du Murier) won Saturday’s CSI5* 1.55m Masters Prix FFE at Le Printemps des Sports Équestres in Fontainebleau, France.
Besting a field of 30 horse-and-rider combinations, Anquetin took the top honours ahead of his compatriot Marc Dilasser (FRA) and Arioto du Gevres (Diamant de Semilly x Qualisco III) in second, while Christian Ahlmann (GER) and D'Aganix 2000 Z (Dominator 2000 Z x Aganix du Seigneur) completed the podium in third.
Roger Yves Bost (FRA) and Prins van’T Eigenlo (Vigo d’Arsouilles x Zandor) finished fourth, followed by Nathan Budd (BEL) and Touardo Blue Z (Toulon x Arko III) in fifth.
“Fulldollar de Raygade will be jumping the Grand Prix tomorrow, so I had to establish a strategy and not go too flat,” Anquetin said in a press release from Le Printemps des Sports Équestres. “I turned at the shortest point everywhere. I managed to take seven short strides for the third obstacle of this second round, and after that, everything went really well. I took a risk because I knew Marc Dilasser was coming up behind, but I still have the Grand Prix tomorrow with her, so I had to make a choice. This mare will continue her season in Madrid, and then, I hope to do a Nations Cup with her – but that’s not up to me.”
The second CSI5* class of the day, the 1.50m Prix Horseware, went to Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano and Vasco 118 (Vivant x Chacco-Blue) ahead of Koen Vereecke (BEL) and Oilily de Muze (Vigo d’Arsouilles x Ramiro Z) in second and Robin Muhr (ISR) aboard Galaxy HM (Quality Time TN x Crawford) in third.
