Belgian rider Jerome Guery won Friday's CSI4* 1.50m counting for the Longines Ranking at Hubside Jumping in Grimaud, France.
In the jump-off, Guery and Quel Homme de Hus (Quidam de Revel x Candillo) were more than a second faster than runners-up Jur Vrieling (NED) and El Rocco (VDL Zirocco Blue x Ircolando). Peder Fredricson (SWE) and H&M Crusader Ice (Cabachon x Corland) finished third, almost two seconds behind the winners. Max Kühner (AUT) and Eic Caleo (Cachas x Quantum) ended fourth, while Kevin Staut (FRA) was fifth with Visconti du Telman (Toulon x Dollar du Murier).
"The goal with Quel Homme de Hus was not necessarily this class, but Sunday's Grand Prix. In the first round, he jumped really well, so I hesitated to do the jump-off to try to keep him fresh for Sunday. But when I saw the layout of the jump-off, I thought it was a course that suited him quite well. Quel Homme de Hus is not the fastest horse but on the other hand he has a huge stride. Compared to the other horses in the jump-off, I managed to take out one stride on all the lines and that's how I saved time. When the jump-off suits him, I know that I can use his great gallop and that's what I did today," Guery concluded.
Guery also won the CSI4* 1.45m class, riding Fais Toi Belle du Seigneur (Baltik Sitte x Heartbreaker).
