Jos Verlooy (BEL) and the 14-year-old stallion Caracas (Casall x Colman) continued their top form in Ascona when winning Sunday's CSI5* Longines Grand Prix of Ascona presented by Bank Generali. Fresh from their victory on Friday, the pair once again delivered a fabulous performance to take home the winner's purse of 90.750 Euro.
"I started my jump-off smooth, but the feeling was really good so I decided to take the risk," Verlooy commented to World of Showjumping. "Caracas feels great at the moment, he is truly an amazing horse. He never lets me down and always tries his heart out for me."
Robert Whitaker (GBR) followed 1.6 seconds behind Verlooy, riding his faithful 16-year-old partner Catwalk IV (Colman x Corleone) to runner-up position. Best on behalf of the hosts was Elian Baumann (SUI) on Campari Z (Contact v.D. Heffinck x Platini M), who came in third. Billy Twomey (IRL) on Chat Botte E.D. (Casall x Darco) ended fourth, and Denis Lynch (IRL) on GC Chopin's Bushi (Contendro II x Nairobi) fifth.
