It was a supreme win from Spain's Julien Epaillard in Saturday's qualifier for Sunday's DKB-Riders Tour Grand Prix in Paderborn. Aboard Quatrin de la Roque (Quick Star x Kannan), Epaillard flew around the 1.50 jump-off track in the Championat von Paderborn to take the win with more than three seconds down to runner-up Douglas Lindelöw on Udermus (Odermus x Jackson) representing Sweden.
A home rider ended third; Eva Bitter on Perigueux (Perpignon x Stakkato), while fourth went to Netherland's Gerco Schröder on Glock's Zaranza (Karandasj x Heartbreaker) and fifth to Germany's Markus Renzel on Cato (Chequille x Ratsherr). Six riders in total were clear in the jump-off that counted twelve riders.
"This is my third show with Quatrin and I have not ridden him as fast as this before. It is a great pleasure to have a horse like this," said Epaillard after his win on the 11-year-old-gelding that previously was ridden by Michel Hecart.
