Nicolas Delmotte (FRA) and the 9-year-old stallion Ilex VP (Diamant de Semilly x Darco) added yet another Grand Prix-title to their record, when winning Sunday's CSI3* Grand Prix of Liege.
The 1.60m Grand Prix had 44 riders in it and nine of them jumped clear rounds to move on to the jump-off. Fastest of the ones with clear rounds was Delmotte, in 34.81 seconds – taking home the top prize of 23 100 Euro. Almost three seconds behind the stylish French rider followed Niklaus Rutschi (SUI) on the 9-year-old gelding Cardano CH (Chameur x Apartigene V. Schlösslihof), to take care of the runner-up position. Rachel Steffen (BEL) was the best of the home riders to finish third on Uncanto Di Villagana (Canturo x Acord II) with a time of 39.27 in the jump-off.
Sanne Thijssen (NED) had the last double clear of the day, ending fourth with No Fear Vd Tichelrij Z (Numero Uno x Heartbreaker) while Patrice Delaveau (FRA) took the fifth place on Leontine Ledimar Z HDC ( Lovefever II x Grosso Z) after having the fastest time in the jump-off but on the expense of four faults.
