The Rolex Grand Prix of Dinard got a popular home win with Nicolas Delmotte and Ilex VP (Diamant de Semilly x Darco) as the only rider to produce two clear rounds. The 1.60m Grand Prix with a jump-off proved to be more challenging than expected. The big grass ring in Dinard saw faults spread all around the 12-fence track. The 16 fences included a water jump as well as a Rolex triple combination and two double combinations.
Only three riders cleared the fences, but Gaetan Decroix (BEL) and Quel Homme de Hus (Quidam de Revel x Quandillo) collected two time penalties leaving them to watch the jump-off from the sideline.
First to go in the second round was Delmotte and Ilex VP. The French rider rode a steady forward round without taking any big risks to end the course in 45,66 seconds.
Delmotte’s only contestant for the win was Kraim Elzoghby and Amelia (Cantos x Numero Uno). The Egyptian rider set off at a good pace, but had a pole down already at fence two and naturally choose to withdraw, leaving the victory to Delmotte.
The fastest riders on four faults who rounded off the top five were the two first ladies of the sport, Beezie Madden (USA) and Penelope Leprevost (FRA) riding Breitling LS (Quintero x Acord I) and Urano de Cartigny (Diamant de Semilly x Double Espoir) respectively.
